To create H.E.N.S., we will build the furnishing of a nail salon: manicure tables, nail samplers and pedicure chairs in a playful amalgam of avant-garde styles. In doing so, we will also build solidarity and class consciousness. Our Nailtech collaborators are designing custom agitprop manicures. Our team of collaborator/manicurists will be our gallerist/activists, sharing information on current exhibitions and advocacy programs.· We do not propose to erase the differences between artist, manicurist and activist. ·We understand all three identities as essentially fluid and historically conditioned but believe that their differences in lived experience, strategy and interests make their collaborative dynamic exciting and full of potential.
